Up for auction is my Bike Friday Pocket Rocket folding road bike, size Large (equivalent to about a 57 cm top tube). Bike is in excellent condition...see component details and measurements below. It is set up as 18 speed (53/39 tooth chainrings x 9 speed 12-24 tooth cassette).
If you know about Bike Friday, you already know this part. If not..read on! If you travel somewhat frequently and if you ride, you should have a Bike Friday.
Why?
You'll know you'll have a bike ready to ride; (2) you won't waste time searching out a rental and then arranging pickup and drop off. you'll save money (on rental cost and airline shipping charges) With a little practice you can setup and repack in about 5-10 minutes (but, the first time you try will take you a little longer...there are videos on YouTube, however)
Don't let the small 20" wheels fool you. This is not a toy, but a real bike indeed. If you didn't look down, you would think you were on a traditional high-performance road bike. Component highlights: Front derailleur: Shimano Sora Rear derailleur: Shimano 105 9 speed Brakes: Tektro R530 Brake levers: Tektro aero levers Shifters: Shimano bar end shifters (the rear one can be set in friction mode or index mode if you have an 8 speed cassette. Since I'm currently running 9 speed, I have it set in friction mode). Handlebar: Dimension road drop bar, 42 cm wide, 25.4 mm clamp size. Note that they are currently not taped, as the buyer will probably want to adjust the position of the brake levers before taping. Stem: threadless, 80 cm, 2 bolt faceplate. Cables: all brand new Jagwire cabling, with slick stainless brake and shifter cables, CGX-SL brake housing, and LEX-SL shifter housing Wheelset: Alex DA-22, 451 mm effective rim diameter, drilled for presta valves Tires: brand new Schwalbe One, 28 mm width Pedals: Ritchey SPD Measurements / fit:
Bike Fridays are highly adjustable and will fit quite a large range of riders. For quick comparison, I am 6' 3" (190 cm) with a 90 cm inseam. The second photo in the listing shows the following measurements: Saddle height (from top of saddle to center of crankset): minimum 54 cm (21.3 in), maximum 89 cm (35.0 in), ideal range 78-82 cm (30.7-32.3 in). Bar height (from top of bars to ground): minimum 96 cm (37.8 in), maximum 106 cm (41.7 in), ideal height around 101 cm (39.8 in) Stretch (distance from front of seatpost to the front of the bars): 63 cm (24.8 in). Of course, this is my setup, and can be adjusted up or down a few centimeters by changing out the stem. Other things included:
One of the best parts of the Bike Friday is that it can be folded up and transported in a Samsonite suitcase (included). Moreover, the suitcase contains hardware to turn it into a trailer that can be towed behind the bike!
I also have included brand new Bike Friday front and rear racks (see photos). These have never been installed.
Finally, I am including a soft sided carry bag and a set of removable Bike Friday fenders (not pictured).
Brand new, this would cost $2800 USD. You can make quite a good deal here.
